When I first read the description of the book I thought of Hanul Ancu ei Ancu a s Inn is my translation for those who don t understand what I m talking about written by Mihail Sadoveanu, because these two books have one thing in common the action happens in the same place, but with different characters So here we have the Blue Moon Caf Nothing bad until now Then we have supernatural creatures and everything changes, we meet werewolves, vampires, were eagles and some other great shifters And my attention was captured.I don t want to start talking about the action, because there will be no fun left for you, but I will try to show that you need to give it a shot All I can say is that I really liked it After every story that I finished, I felt I wanted Every character has charm and I almost believed they were actually my friends and even real people My favourite was Jo, the mayor s wife, who was independent, a heroine and an inspiration for me She is capable of many things to help the ones she loves and to serve the purpose she believes in I really enjoyed being part of the town, knowing their inside problems and jokes I also liked that Ioana left out all the drama behind the classic stories and these superhumans try to adapt, no the other way around They really act like normal people and that makes them real I recommend it to all of you who love fantasy and humor in the same cup.

I read this entire collection of short stories in a heart beat It was engaging, full of out of the box ideas, like good fantasy should be, intriguing and almost surrealist on some points. As a non native English speaker, Ioana has a stunning command of English and her words create beautiful images In a world that is both surprising and intense, her characters are well written, with a dose of humor that will make you burst into the most sincere laughter possible.Since I personally am not much into the shifters lore, I must confess her stories were a delight, making me want to read of her fiction I would recommend this collection for all those who are looking for something completely different, as in concepts and imagery.

Blue Moon Caf by Ioana Visan is another clever tale from this talented author In Blue Moon, several seemingly unrelated short stories actually form different portions of a complete story Each short story is a standalone story, but when combined they all work together as parts of a larger story The basic underlying theme concerns a community largely populated by various shifters , such as werewolves, were eagles, were foxes, were rats, and so on In a nod to modernization, the werewolves have devolved into were mutts the were eagles are now were crows, and so on In spite of the degraded condition of the many shifter species, they still mistrust and dislike one another But to get along in the community, they try to work together as much as possible, with wolves and eagles serving together on the City Council, in their human forms In this story it becomes apparent that even were critters have some degree of community pride When a large pack of were mice approaches the Mayor with a development project proposal, he privately confides to his wife, a were fox, that he will not have those vermin in his town When he learns they have misrepresented themselves, and are actually were rats, his determination is redoubled This is an engaging story, with a good dose of humor mixed in I am delighted to see this is billed as a Series that implies there will be stories to come concerning this community of modern shape shifters and their Blue Moon Caf This story is quite suitable for middle grade readers on up to the elderly reader I believe it would be particularly appropriate for the reluctant reader, who is sure to be surprised at how involved he becomes in the various short stories as well as the overall tale I definitely recommend this book by the very talented Ioana Visan I also urge you to keep an eye open for books penned by her, as she is very capable of building an entertaining story.

The Blue Moon Caf Where Shifters Meet to Drink by Ioana Visan is a collection of seven short paranormal stories The short story is not an easy genre to market, especially given the proliferation of novellas these days However, this collection works almost as a short novel, given the unifying underlying theme of shifters, and the characters who are common throughout, although the disparity in the stories lengths mean they don t really equate to chapters Werewolves mutts and the less common were eagles who double up as crows are the main characters we meet, but there are humans and smoking hot vampires too The Mayor is trying to keep things calm in his town with a rather volatile mix of different shifter species and has various levels of success. There are plenty of humourous touches and lots of imagination in evidence in these quirky, tightly plotted stories There s romance, tension, craziness, suspense, threat Each story in the collection has a slightly different tone, from comedy in Once in a Blue Moon, with the added moral of be careful what you buy off someone in a bar , to tension and conflict in A Mutt Problem, to definite foreboding yet optimism in The Day We Shot the Moon out of the Sky The various characters are sparsely yet adequately portrayed This author concentrates her writing energy where it matters most in creating atmosphere and entertainment The book would benefit hugely from a original title There is a sea of books with Blue Moon Caf in the title, many of them collections of short stories, and I worry that this book could drown in them It deserves to stand out from the crowd Sadly, the cover doesn t do the book full justice either and doesn t reflect the class and quality of Ioana Visan s writing But this is definitely a book worth reading.

I ve enjoyed Ioana s books before so I was delighted to get the chance to read Where Shifters Meet for Drinks The Blue Moon Cafe is the setting through out the book It s full of several short stories all set in the same place, with the same town characters revolving through out the stories The two clans, werewolf and eagle, don t get along and the mayor wants to protect his town Every time any of the two clans meet, chaos reigns The mayor has brought in some other supernatural creatures to help diffuse the rivalry, vampire to name one The characters are well developed and Visan s keen writing brings them to life From the dramatic, suspense filled story to one of irony and humor, I was kept thoroughly entertained and clamoring for If you enjoy excellent writing with memorable characters and unique plot points, pick up Where Shifters Meet It s fantastic

Collection of short stories that are interconnected Werewolves live in this town as do werecrows They have a treaty but it sometimes gets pushed I enjoyed these stories I wasn t sure what to expect but I am glad I read it There is humor, suspense, and action here I liked the werewolves, not too crazy about the humans and some of the other weres, and not so sure about the werecrows Each story is a little vignette with a few people from each group The story finishes but the characters may turn up in another vignette later in the book The world building is good It is an interesting place Some of the stories could have sequels to them I want to see of this world and I want to see what happens when the moon returns.

I found this compilation interesting It takes on a new look at shifters in the sense that just about every animal out there can be shifted into Each animal grouping has their own clan Naturally, the clans clash.I like how each story addresses separate characters, but as the compilation continues, each set of characters begins to tie into each other It really helps create a sense of how the town operates. The first story in the compilation is a bit silly, but even that ties into how the story of the town progresses.Overall, it was a fun read for those who like supernatural stories.

I liked this collection of short stories that are interconnected I don t mind short stories and sometimes prefer them to a drawn out novel If you like paranormal short stories involving shape shifters then I d recommend this collection If you don t like short stories then pick up a novel. As a side note, if this author wanted to continue to make a novel based on this world not a remake of this collection , I d read it Received this from LibraryThing.com member giveaway.
